One intern and one seasonal work with the interpretation program while one intern and one seasonal work with the education program. Jobs are posted online as they become available. A short description of these opportunities is below, but for more information on these and other positions with the Oregon Department of Forestry check out the ODF Employment page.

The intern and seasonal assist in developing, delivering and evaluating a variety of interpretive presentations and media, and assist with educational activities and events. These positions lead guided interpretive walks, and present information to audiences at the Center, in the campgrounds and at other venues on or off the forest. The intern and seasonal also staff the Center’s exhibit hall as roving interpretive guides assisting the public with information and work in the gift shop assisting with front desk reception and sales.

Forest Education

The intern and seasonal assist in planning, preparing, conducting and evaluating forest education activities for use by schools and the public - both on and off the forest. These positions assist with other projects that relate to forest education, interpretation and public information needs at the Center or on the forest. Volunteer

The Tillamook Forest Center invites you to consider volunteering your time and skills to help make the Center a memorable place for visitors. Whether assisting with programs, meeting and greeting visitors in the exhibit gallery or on the trails, working in the gift shop and at the reception desk, or helping behind the scenes, volunteers bring their own special insights and know-how to the Tillamook Forest Center team.

Following an intake interview, volunteers will receive orientation and training related to their duties. A position description is created, and a volunteer agreement is developed specifying time commitments and areas of interest. Volunteers work closely with staff.

A limited number of “camp host” style full hook-ups are located at the Tillamook Forest Center to facilitate volunteers who are interested in staying on site.
