Come be part of Wildfire Community Preparedness Day — a chance to team up, get inspired, and take meaningful action to keep our communities fire‑ready and resilient.

 

🔥10: 30 am – 3 pm

Oregon State Fire Marshal and the Oregon Red Cross will provide information on preparedness essentials, a go-bag example, fire-safe landscaping, and more!

 

🔥11 am

Oregon State Fire Marshal delivers Preparing Your Home for Wildfire. Give your home a fighting chance during wildfires and learn more about home hardening and defensible space. This presentation will focus on achievable and affordable strategies for keeping your home, family, and community safe during a wildfire.

 

🔥12:30 pm

Of course, no event would be complete without a visit from Smokey Bear! Stop by to say hello, snap a photo, and learn a few tips about preventing wildfires.

 

🔥1 pm

A special screening of Samurai in the Oregon Sky, a film exploring how an attempted WWII wildfire ignition near Brookings, Oregon ultimately led to an unexpected reconciliation and lasting friendship between the pilot and the community. Discover the connection between this historic event and Oregon Department of Forestry lookouts.

 

Spend the day engaging in activities designed to empower and inform. Together, we can build a safer, more fire‑prepared Oregon.
